Is it possible to place a button to run a macro on your desktop?

This may be a pretty dumb question:

But I've made a macro that pastes a phrase, inserts the current date, then copies all the information to be inserted into a template.
I use it pretty frequently and I'm wondering if there is an easier way to run the macro without having to switch into Word to click the button on the ribbon and then switch back into the other window I'm using. Is it possible in any way to create a button that can be placed on your desktop that could run a macro that functions inside word, without having to be in your Word window.

No, that is not possible - Word macros require a Word document as a container. Depending on what your other application is, that may be able to start Word, open the document and do the pasting, all without you having to switch focus.

Thanks for your help! I figured it wasn't possible that way, and I don't have any coding access to the other program, so I'll make do with what I have.

Again, I really appreciate your help!
