    Excel 2013 Right Click Option

Hi, I wonder whether someone may be able to help me please.

I've recently upgraded to Excel 2013 an despite running a detect and repair ans searching through the 'Advanced Options' I'm unable to enable the 'Copy' function when I right click over the cell.

If I use the copy button on the Ribbon, I'm able to right click and select the various 'Paste' options so I'm not sure where the problem lies.

I just wondered whether someone may be able to provide some guidance on how I may be able to overcome this.

    Many thanks and kind regards

Re: Excel 2013 Right Click Option

So when you right click on a cell the "Copy" is grayed out ??

You need to select something, like a range of cells and then right click in what is selected. Is "Copy" still grayed out?
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

HI @MarvinP, thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

Yes that's exactly correct. Even when I've selected a file, the option is greyed out.

    Many thanks and kind regards

HI @popipipo, thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

I can confirm the macro performs as intended, but when I close this file and open a new sheet, the option reverts back to being greyed out.

    Many thanks and kind regards

    Hi,

Have you checked your mouse settings. This seems to me like you have reprogrammed your right click mouse button to perform some other function perhaps.

Another thought is that someone has perhaps protected your workbook or worksheet keeping the copy and paste from being possible. Are you using a new blank sheet to product your problem?

Re: Excel 2013 Right Click Option

HI @MarvinP, thank you for coming back to me with this.

I can confirm that the problem occurs on both new and previously created worksheets, so I don't think the workbook protection is the cause.

As for the mouse settings, I've looked at these and I can't see anything out of the ordinary, but I'll have another check.

    Many thanks and kind regards

    Hi,

Another possibility is you have redefined your mouse right_click event in Excel. Is there a chance that you have code behind your workbook?

Re: Excel 2013 Right Click Option

Hi All, I just wanted to give you an update on this.

I continued to work on this and found the same solution from several sources online.

I opened Excel in 'Safe' mode and found that the 'Copy' function was available so I was pretty sure that I didn't need to do a complete re-install, but the guidance I found online, suggested using 'regedit' and changing this: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\Options to this HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\Options.old.

I then restarted Excel and it now works fine.

Once again many thanks for all your help and kind regards
