VBA - Script Page Properties Window value showing only single digit

Hi All,

i am in need of urgent help on below issue which i come across on property window.

The issue is when ever i am trying to change the any property value its not accepting and when i am clicking on property name the property value showing starting single digit value.

i am unable to understand why its showing like this. please see the attached screenshot (highlighted value).

can anyone please let me know why its happening is some setting need to be modified ??

if you see first image i selected the BackColor property name then the property value showing only single digit and if you see the property value of (Name) property name in first image its showing complete name "Userform1" and
if you see same in 2nd image i highlighted (Name) property name then the value is showing as only "U".

I hope my explanation is understandable..

Any Idea on this Issue...

If i am selecting any property value its thronging an error "Invalid Property"..

Did you tried the file on another computer?
Did you try to restart the computer? (I know it sound silly but it helps in many situations)

1). i did not try on another computer. will check in some time.
2). i try by restarting excel and even computer but the issue remain same.

i checked in another computer everything is fine, do not know why this happening in this PC

could be the Excel version? Is the excel up to date? Is there a hotfix installed (recently) ?
Is this happening to another excel file on this computer?

Yes excel is up to date and No nothing is installed recently

this issue in all excel on this computer....

I'm sorry, I haven't found anything related to this behavior, but could you try an office repair?
(Add Remove Programs... Change/Repair.. etc)

I'm not sure I understand the question but it seems to me you can't name things that confuse VBA. For example you can't use "Reserved words" in VBA for other things. An example is you can't use the word "DIM" as a variable. See the short list at: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.90).aspx

Along with these Reserved words, I'd bet you can confuse Excel if you named a Userform the same name as a worksheet. I even think VBA would be confused if you named things "A1" or some range or other thing common to Excel. I'd try to pick a Userform name other than "U" as it might be interpreted as a whole column of cells.

I told you I didn't understand the problem, but I think this gets close...

Apologize for the confusion.

My query in detail,
In VBScript page we have Property Window. When I click on any property name like "say for example: (Userform) Enabled", when I click on the property name , it is showing only T instead of True and when I change it to False in drop down, it says "Invalid Property Value". This is happening for all the property values.

See attached screenshot in my #1 thread which shows more details.

Hope my query is clear now.. Request your help in this regard. Not sure if this is Office error or any other issue like registry file missing etc.

When you re-installed Office, did you do a full uninstall first, remove all Office directories and reboot before reinstalling?

Also, do you see the same problem in safe mode?

yes I try re-installing after uninstalling fully from PC, however the issue remain same.

One more thing is recently Hotfix update has happens is this a issue ??

It is not something I've seen mentioned online, but have you tried uninstalling the hotfix?

yes i tried that too, but unfortunately issue still remain same.

it would be great if anyone know this answer, as i am facing lot of issue while preparing tools in Excel using Userforms

You might try removing the VBE*.dll files (VBE7, VBEUI and VBEUIRES) from the program files\common files\microsoft shared\vba\vba7.1 (you can copy them to another folder just in case) and then repairing Office.

I might have to involved my service desk teams as I do not have sufficient permissions to play around on these DLL files.

Please suggest if there is any other workaround for this.
