Using Pivot Tables to Count String Data

    Help,

I'm trying to created a pivot table (I think it will be the best tool to use) to count the times string data appears.

For my example I need to count the number of times a county is listed (in column). The problem is that for each row there is usually only 1 county but for some rows there are 4 or 5. Is there any way to do this? I've tried to get the pivot table to count 4 different words in a single cell (didn't work) or create 4 different columns and then try to get the pivot table to count the counties (didn't work). Any help Here? Am I going at this the wrong way?

Let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks,

    Tyler
