    Pivot Data Arrangement

    Hi All,

Is it possible to arrange Pivot Table data as per the below Image?

    pivot.png

Ideas, Votes, Comments & Responses are my columns in Source Data sheets which contain numeric values. I need to sum them up date wise.

When I drop these columns in "Values" section, it show side by side in a single rows. Not in multiple rows like the attached picture.

Is there any way/trick to do it?

P.S.: Using pivot table is must for me as I need to give user a choice to group the sums by single day, week, month or year.

    Thanks in Advance!

    Re: Pivot Data Arrangement

    Hi,

You will need to do the following to convert your table to a list.
Then you can Pivot your data....

Creating a database list from a summary table

Many users are familiar with Excel's pivot table feature, which creates a summary table from a database table. But what if you want to perform the opposite operation? This document describes how to create a database table from a simple two-variable summary table.

    The worksheet sample demonstrates this.

    How to do it?

The solution to creating this "reverse pivot table" is to use a pivot table!
The steps below are specific to the example data shown, so you'll need to modify them slightly to work with your data.

Part 1: Creating a pivot table

    1. Activate any cell in your summary table
    2. Press Alt+D and then press P to activate the “old” Pivot Table wizard.
    3. In the PivotTable dialog box, select the Multiple consolidation ranges option, and click Next.
    4. In Step 2, choose the I will create the page fields option and click Next.
    5. In Step 2b specify your summary table range in the Range field (A1:E13 for the sample data) and click Add. Click Next.
    6. In Step 3, select a location for the pivot table.
    7. Click OK and then Finish, creating the pivot table.

    Part 2: Finishing up

At this point, you will have a pivot table that simulates the original data table you started with. Double-click the cell that contains the total. Excel will create a new sheet that displays the original data in the form of a database table. Modify the column headings if desired.
    Regards,
    Rudi

    Re: Pivot Data Arrangement

    You misunderstand...

In order to get the layout you have in your picture (in your first post), you need to first convert your information into a list (using the steps in my post). Once your info is converted into a list, you can use a Pivot Table to arrange the data into the format you show in your image (in your first post).
