How to combine two charts with different y-axes (Not the typical secondary axis problem)

I want to make a bar chart in which the first two groups of values is on the primary axis and the third group of values is on the secondary axis.

See the attached file and the following explanation to get an idea of what I'm trying to do.

A and B are variables of the same kind while C is a different kind of variable. So, I want A and B (for both X and Y) plotted on the primary y-axis and C on the secondary axis.

It seems to me that this can't be done with the typical secondary axis-solution since the columns don't represent the secondary axis.

Any idea how to this? I tried making two graphs, the first consisting of A and B, and then a second with only C and then superimposing them. While that works, the result is not too pretty as the superimposition is not perfect.

Please let me know if you have ideas regarding this or if what I describe needs more clarification.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Monk07,

    Try doing the following:

    1. Right Click on one of the bars and click Select Data
    2. In the Select Data Source box, click the Switch Row/Column button - then choose OK.
    3. Right click on the C Bar (Green), and click on Format Data Series
    4. Click on the Secondary Axis radio button.

The C data will now be on the Secondary Axis

I hope this helps, please let me know!

    Regards,

    David

Thanks but that doesn't work because then you lose the original integrity of the three variables A, B, and C, which you want to retain on the X-axis. What I want is three pairs (X and Y) of bars, for each of A, B, and C.

    Sorry Monk07,

I don't think I know enough about charts to do that.

I would help me understand, however, if instead of ABC and XY you actually gave an indication of what the variables are.

    Regards,

    David
