Scatter graph labels issue

Attached is a table.

I want to map one point per name that shows where they are on an x vs y axis i.e. one point shows they have scored 8 on x axis and 3 on the y axis.

The tricky part is also that I want to have the name against each point. i.e. above might have 'name 2' next to it.

Thanks Alan but the labels show up as [CELLRANGE], [X VALUE], [Y VALUE] rather than saying "name 1" etc.

If you add each row as a series, via the Select Data dialog, you can use the built-in data label settings.

If you have xl2013 then you can link data label to cells, as per AlanY's suggestion.

You can use a free addin to link data labels to cells. If you require the data label to display name and values then you will need to construct that text in a single cell.

Thanks that worked, however I have 200 names so it looks a mess.

Is there a way to roll over and show the data legend for that specific point?

The built-in data point tooltip will display Series, Category and value. So in order to have the name appear you would need each data point to be a series.

You maybe able to use VBA to display a tooltip when the mouse is over a data point, there have been many examples posted on the forum.
This requires chart event code and I do not know whether the mac supports this.
