adding +/- values to points on a graph

    Hi everyone,

I've made a table and a graph that utilizes some of the data like so:

    a0ddddd0b3e9858d96cc1d801c3e6315.png

The graph is made using the values of column G (J in Excel) and column B (E in Excel). Then I added a trendline to get a curve of best-fit.

I need to make error deviations to each point but I'm not sure how. For example, the average RPM is given as 728.9 for the first reading, but I need to show the error deviation on the point (so like an arrow that points a little to the left and right to show these deviations) because I have a maximum value as 732.5 and minimum value as 726.1.

I hope that makes sense. How can I accomplish this?

I am not exactly sure what you want. I expect it will involve adding error bars to your data series. https://support.office.com/en-US/art...rs=en-US&ad=US

The main question I would ask back is exactly what do you want those error bars to show? As I read your description, it sounded like you want to add an error bar connecting the data point to the trendline. Since the chart trendline will not do this sort of analysis for us, I suspect this will be easiest if you generate the trendline/regression directly in the spreadsheet using the LINEST() function https://support.office.com/en-US/art...5-fd60c880022a Then you can compute the desired deviation in the spreadsheet and use that column in the "custom" error bar setting.

OK that seems like the thing I want. I'll figure out how to use it.

    Thanks for the help.
