    Slicer on Tables

    Hi,

Does anyone know if its possible to link the same slicer to two different tables? I know you can do it for pivots but I just want to be able to do it for a normal table.

I currently have two tables which I want to separate by Customer Type (amongst various things)

One table is for all regions which I always want to show and the other table is for specific regional data so I need them to remain separate.

    Thanks!

After doing some research, I was able to confirm that slicer connections are disabled for tables because this is a feature only for PivotTables. Like you, I also wish there was the ability to have slicer connections in tables.

    Hi XL&ME,

In 2013 Excel they added Slicers to Tables. In 2010 they only had them for Pivots but 2013 Excel got better. See http://www.dummies.com/how-to/conten...n-excel-2.html

    Re: Slicer on Tables

Hi cfleming (who is using Excel 2013 with Table Slicers),

I don't see anything obvious that would allow a single slicer to filter two different tables. Perhaps with a bunch of VBA code it could be done. If you think about it, the headings of both tables would need to be exactly the same. I just don't see why you would want this. If you can sell me a little more on the need, I might look at a VBA answer.

    Re: Slicer on Tables

    Hey Marvin,

The reason being that I have a couple of common columns in the tables like i'd like to be able to filter by.

I've got a workaround in using the advanced filter feature and a small macro. Not as professional looking as in built slicers but it does the job.
