Issue with pre formatted date in pivot table (Cannot group that selection)

Basically I have a table with dates and values, I'm trying to make a Pivot Table that groups the values weekly

But the problem is I always get "Cannot group that selection" while trying to group the dates

There are no blanks on the table, so I'm assuming the issue lies with the date being pre formatted, so it's not recognizing as a date

The table is automatically created by a macro, and the date bit comes from the formula "=TEXT(TODAY();"dd/mm/aaaa")" , hence why it is pre formatted

Or maybe is something else? I'm not sure what to do here

This is the table, I only need colums B and C. The "Data" column is formatted as date but it changes nothing since that's the text is already dd/mm/aaa

    Hi ppgab,

I've seen this error message many times. I've always found one of the values in the DATE column is not a date. Create a formula in a blank column using the =IsDate() function. Pull this formula down for all rows. Then sort by the True and False, to see which of your dates are NOT dates.

You should be able to group by dates in a Pivot Table if you have ONLY dates in that column.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Instead of using a TEXT formula (which will naturally return text, not a date), assign a date value to the cells and use their numberformat property to format the date.

Thanks, that was it, the date wasn't a number, but a text obviously
