    Group's Percentage of Total Sales

    Hi Gurus,

I can't wrap my head around this problem. I have a pivot table where I track the weekly Labor figures for our stores, which is no problem. The problem now is that management wants to see the Total Sales per store and the percentage of Labor against the total sales for that week. I've tried all sorts of different scenarios, but I can't get my totals to work out correctly. I believe I might have my data setup wrong. On the attached file, I have one store's numbers for 1 week. The column and row that's highlighted in yellow are the numbers that I'm unable to have the Pivot Table show (I'm just attaching the data for reference). Sales total is $12K (one line item) with Labor total of $2K (comprised of several different departments). The store's percentage of Labor for the week is 16.67% ($2000/12000).

    StoreID,StartWk EndWk,Department,Sales,Labor,Labor%ofNetSales
    5,04/25/16,05/01/16,TOTAL,12000,2000,16.67%

Any ideas? I appreciate your time and help! (sorry, but I'm unable to load the file, the 'upload your files from your computer' is not letting me upload).

    Hi -

I dont' see an attached file. Sometimes the file attach button doesn't work so you have to push the button marked "Go Advanced" at the lower right corner of the editing pane. When the Advanced editing pane comes up, scroll down to the hyper link for "Mange Attachments" and find and upload your file there.

Thumbs up Re: Group's Percentage of Total Sales

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, I entered the "Manage Attachments". From there, the area that I can search on my computer, does not work. I find my file and when I try to upload, I get the message "This site says...Please select a file to attach".

No worries, though. I figured it out. On the data sheet, I made a helper column to calculate the percentage of net sales and I kept the Labor figures in one column and the sales figures in a different column. The pivot table now totals up the values correctly. I tried this after reading several different posts on your forum for similarity and I was able to re-tool my pivot.

Great resource. I will definitely let me colleagues of your wonderful site. Thanks! (I'll turn this to Solved once I figure out how to do it...I had seen someone have this same scenario about not knowing how to have his post as Solved)
