    Turning hourly data into daily

    Hi all,

It has many years since I last used Excel and I cannot remember how to do a thing.

I have a bunch of data that is in an hourly format but I need to do an investigation on it per day.

I need to turn it into Open, High of the day, Low of the day, and close for each day.

I am pretty stuck so any help would be great

in the example is that the output or what you started with?
ie what is the data you actually get and what is the output you want?

also date in column A is in american format (mm/dd/yyyy) did you need to change to Australian (dd/mm/yyyy) ?

Re: Turning hourly data into daily

The data is pulled from another program that has the data feed plugged in.

Date is not important but the day is haha, that will be my next issue. I am ultimately trying to find if the day of the week has any significance on the high and low of the week.

ie how many times does the high of the week occur on a Monday, Tuesday.......

Just didn't want to ask for the complete solution.

The formula and lay out is showing the sum of the week not the high of the week?

I am ultimately trying to find if the day of the week has any significance on the high and low of the week and then test that against any 5 day period to see if Monday and Friday are significant or the start and finish of any 5 day period are significant.

It was in spired by this post

I found this post, which seems very similar to what I am trying to do.

Only issue is I still cannot figure it out. A formula I could work backwards to see what they did but I am struggling with the pivot tables.
