how to convert minute rainfall to daily rainfall with missing value?

    Dear all,

I have an excel file which contains many stations that measured rainfall for each 10 minutes. In the excel sheet, there are some details of Stations, for each one, there are four column related to each station which are: Station Number, Date, Time (with ten minutes interval) and amount of rainfall, respectively.

Furthermore, sometimes the minutes data are missing.

I should mention that "date" started from 1140101 which we shouldn't take into account the first left side number "1". So the real format of date is "yymmdd" "140101".

Now I would like to sum the rainfall data of each day.

I appreciated in advance for your consideration.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

You have a column labeled Daily Rain, although the table has 144 rows for the same date. Do you want to repeat daily rain 144 times?

If so put this formula in F3 and copy down:

I don't understand your point about missing values. In your sample data, there are no blanks, so I don't see anything missing. If you have other cases where it's actually missing, you can't just make up data. You could interpolate, but I don't think that would be very accurate for rain data taken at 10-minute intervals. If the data is not there, it's not there.

As you correctly mentioned the table has 144 rows for this date (140101) but for the other station for the same date the table has 142 rows. I would like to sum the accumulated rainfall in F based on the date changed (from 140101 to 140102, amount of rows are not always 144).

Maybe I don't understand what you want. Do you want total rainfall for each full day, or cumulative rainfall for the day at each 10-minute interval?

Based on your layout that's what I provided. But it will repeat on every row. If you want a separate list of dates with rainfall, one row for each date, then you need a different layout.
