    Separator line on the X axis of a pivot chart?

    Hi All,

    I have 4-5 major areas in my pivot chart (1 Bed, 2 Bed, 3 Bed etc.), and I would like to add a line between each area.

    I can do it by manually by inserting a line, however this is needed every week so I would have to add the line every time.

    Is there a way to add a separator line into the chart that will change as I update the pivot?

    Thanks.

    Hi jeptik,

    I'm not aware of a way to add a line to define an area but you can add shading to a Row where it Totals or Sub Totals.

    Have a look at this link;

    Sorry for off-topic interjection:

    Although there is no official rule regarding this behavior, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

    I'm sure you understand, and we look forward to seeing you post your formulas/macros in your posts for the searching benefit of all.

    Thanks again for all your hard work here!

    Thank you for your response nobuffinme.

    I was actually looking to see if there was a way to add defined areas within a pivot chart, however I now realise that you can only do this from within the pivot table itself.

    Thanks for giving me the lead-in.

    ProtonLeah, thanks for the interjection. I will make sure that I post my chart or workshett etc. in the future.

    Regards.
