filtering rows in a pivot table

Hi. I have a pivot table (which you helped me set up) which has months & years as row labels. They start Sept '16 and end Dec 17. A pivot chart is based on the table. All is well.

I want to remove the rows for Sept and Oct '16.

I'm not sure where to look. The table has a filter sign on the row labels icon, but there are others in the Pivot table tools. Where do I look.

    Thanks. K

Re: filtering rows in a pivot table

If you are still looking for a solution or in this case work around you might want to look at the attached file. The data is set up as dates, first of each month. The pivot table row labels, column F in the attached file, are also set up by dates and can be filtered as such. Column E is formatted to look like part of the pivot table, so that when/if column F is hidden(as in attached file) the data to the right will be aligned in the correct row. To go much further I would need to see a sample of the spreadsheet(s)/pivot table you are working with.

For a date field in the Row or Column area of the pivot table, you can select a specific date range for the filter.

Click the drop down arrow on the Row Labels heading
Select the Field name from the drop down list of Row Labels fields
Click Date Filters, then click Between.
In the Between dialog box, type a start and end date, or select them from the pop up calendars.
In Excel 2013 and later, there is a "Whole Days" option. Check that option to ignore times that are stored in the date cells.
    Click OK.
