    XY scatter chart

    Hello everybody

my girlfriend needs to make an xy scatter chart and she does not know how to do it(shes on a deadline for tomorrow morning).
let me begin by saying i know NOTHING about excel,so i dont have the slightest idea on how to help(but its quite urgent.its for her final thesis of masters degree).we also have some miscommunication problems because she is thai,im italian, the thesis has to be done in english,we dont know the excel terms and lingos in other languages.its all a big "situation" and finding a tutorial is difficult (cause im not quite sure what she needs).
so long story short,i would really like to be "spoon fed" the basics on how to do this (i know its frowned upon on forums) but we are in a bit of a hassle and i was hoping you could let this one slide

    basically,this is her chart:
    org.JPG
starts at 80 and goes up

and this is what she wants (this one is fake.done by "photoshop".so its not a real chart):
    strg_antityro.JPG
she needs the space from 0 to 85 to be smaller(compressed) so that theres more space for the data that matters
and also there should bea zig-zag line like in this example image:
    zigzag.jpg

any hot fix/suggestion on how to achieve this?a step-by-step mini tutorial would be really appreciated.not too in depth, just the basics.go here>click this>change that (again..its a deadline and AGAIN,i dont know the first thing about excel...but i need to help her with this).i know this is a walk in the park for all of you people who know what youre doing when it comes to excel (it will take two minutes)

thank you in advance for any help (i REALLY REALLY appreciate it)

Easiest way that I see is to create your own "custom axis" from a dummy data series and data labels. Something like:

    1) Enter data for the dummy series in an suitable range in the spreadsheet. Maybe something like
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    2) Add the x and y values as a new series (chart source data dialog)
    3) Add data labels to this series using Rob Bovey's XY chart labeler add-in (appspro.com), using the third column as the data label source
    4) hide the chart's y axis (format with no line/ticks/labels).
