Creating a time chart for when people will be leaving..

Hi, I work with kids and I'm looking for a way to create an easy chart managing all the times the different kids can leave at. There's almost 100 kids and it would be easy if they all left at one set time, but a lot them can leave at i.e. any time between 13:30-15:30. I was thinking if I add all the "start" and "end" times in a table I could get a chart listing everyone with their "start" and "end" times (so they have to leave anytime in between).

My problem is I can't get the chart to set the correct time (it starts at 00:00:00 and doesn't go up the way I want it too. If it could show the start time at 13:30 and the end time at 16:45 that would be absolutely perfect.

The ideal file would be a list of all the kids on the vertical Y axis and the time between 13:30-16:45 on the horizontal X axis. Alot of them cant leave at 13:30 tho, which means the diagram would sometimes start at i.e 15:00-16:00 leaving the chart blank from 13:30-15:00. I don't know if this is possible?

Any other suggestions? This would be such a huge help for me, but I can't seem to get it to work the way I want.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate any help.

    Best,
    Dan

Wow, that is beautiful!! Exactly what I had in mind, thank you. This is going to help me out so much! I attempted using the start and end times by them selves, but of course you need to use the actual "present" time to make it work. Beautiful!

One final thing; I tried adding labels to the chart so that it more easily shows the exact times, but I can only get the label to show for the present and the start time. Any idea how I can add a label to the start and end time of each bar? Again, thank you so much!

It gets a bit messy with charts of this dimension so I have attached an example.

Basically I added "end time" as a new series, plotted it on the secondary category axis so it did not stack on the existing series, added data labels and then set the series fill and line properties to none.

10/10 man. Thank you! I get what you're saying about the cluttering and I agree, but it makes the times stand out for each bar. I couldn't get this working on my own. Thanks again!

edit: and nice of you to explain your process so I learn as well
