Plot area cropping thicker lines when Position Axis set to "on tick marks"

Hi,

I'm trying to make a line chart in which the line goes all the way from the left side of the plot area to the other. This is done by setting the Position Axis to "on tick marks". Unfortunatelly, the plot area works as a cropping window for the chart lines, so when I have a thicker line which is supposed to have a nice rounded ending, it is actually cropped and the line ending is sharp and it's shape depends on the angle of touching the Plot Area edge.

Any ideas for workarounds? Thanks!

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

maybe for x-axis add 29/09/2016 (as value) to Minimum and 01/01/2018 (as value) to Maximum

btw, we don't want any sensitive data but dummy data only which reflect structure and type of data of your work

Looks promising, but it messes up with the x-axes labels. I need the grid/tick-marks to be locked at the end-of-month dates.

It looks like I don't need the adjacent dates at all in the end.

But still, with this workaround, I don't seem to be able to only show the dates for end of qarters (underlined in the picture).

Thanks, sandy666, the trick with leaving out the x-labels will do it! One minor issue remains - the vertical grid lines, that I intended to add, cannot be tricked this way. If I drew them manually, they would be above the lines and I cannot send them back since my backround is not transparent. But I think I can live without the grid lines.

You can turn off gridlines (except horizontal, main) and use error bars

(create picture manually to show what you want to achieve with gridlines)

At work again, unable to download the file...
I'll look into the error bar technique later. What I need is pretty ordinary major vertical gridlines corresponding to the dates shown. When actual gridline turned on, there is an off-set due to the fake date in the beginning.

Interesting solution. I missed my chance to download the file yesterday, so hopefully, I'll check it out today.
Yet it is not exactly gridlines - the readers might think I'm trying to say something I'm not.
Moreover, there are multiple data sets in my real-life chart. I think that the vertical lines might cross them.

Thanks! Well, this is complicated...
What I need is a line that displays ALL values, but x-axis is only labeled and vertical gridlines shown for end-of-quarter dates only. 13 values, 5 labels, 5 vertical gridlines.
In your example, you only plot the end-of-quarter values.
If I accepted the line going all the way to the edge of the Plot Area, it would be very simple. If I don't, it looks impossible.

Nobody says it's easy.

Create chart (real chart), add manually what you want and show what you want to achieve. (in excel file, not a picture!)
But this is beyond your first post, which has been resolved.
