I think you can do this by grouping the dates by month and year, or you could use a couple of helper columns in the source data. Provide a sample workbook and I'll give it a shot.
Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.
Remember to desensitize the data.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
Thank you for your reply.
Please find attached an excel sheet with the case. As you can see the sheet number 2 having a two columns with filter, if you click on first column(red highlight) you see that the filter is organized by year-month and days. however doing the same for sheet 1 for the green highlighted column you can see that dates are not organized its just a mess of days. All i want is to change this filter to be oganized same way as sheet 2 year-month-day.
thank you in advance.
Hi,
Pivot table filters do not work the same way as autofilter filters, I'm afraid. The best you can do, as dflak said, is to group the date field in the pivot table, which will add years and/or months as specified by you. It's not quite the same and not as flexible- e.g. you can't filter out Jan for just a particular year- but the only alternatives are using the built in date filters which may or may not suffice.

thank you for your reply.
but the grouping you are talking about is not clear to me please mention how to do so.
Thank you
Right-click the field in the pivot table, choose Group and then choose how you want it grouped (Year, Month, Quarter). You then end up with a new field for each grouping level.
Here it is. Click on the year and you can select the year. Then click on the month and you can select a month.
Well I uploaded the spreadsheet, but only the image seemed to have uploaded.
found it thank you very much guyss :D
