    Difficulty Creating Chart Per Request

    Hello,

First timer here, but long time user of Excel. I've built spreadsheets with my fair share of vlookups and index matches, but I am stumped as to a chart that I am trying to create that will display the spreadsheet data in just the way I want it.

Here is an image of the data that I quickly mocked up that resembles the actual data that I need to chart. If you will notice Column B is an autosum of columns C - J. Columns C - J are thus a percentage of Column B.

What I would like to create in a chart is one that has Column B as the 100% figure, and next to that for each "Date" in a stacked column columns C - J each showing what percentage they make of the total.

I have tried to create the chart with no luck, I am close, but I have to use a Line for Column B. This is what my attempt looks like:

But I really would like Column B to be a single column located to the left of each stacked Column for each date on the horizontal axis.

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

    Thanks

Out of interest, why? What benefit is an additional column that's just exactly the same height as the stack next to it?

That sounds to me like you are describing a clustered and stacked column chart. As with many charting questions, the chart part is easy. Most of the work is arranging the data in the spreadsheet. This tutorial describes how to do it: https://peltiertech.com/clustered-st...mn-bar-charts/

It is what the client wants.

I will give this a try later today, but I notice it is a post from 2011 and specifically speaks about Excel 2003 and Excel 2007, hopefully this post still works in the current version of Excel.

    Thank you

the location(s) for the commands have changed, but the main ideas behind Excel's charts have not changed. You may need to look in different places for commands and make some adaptation to the details, but the basic idea should still be the same.
