    Pie chart to show data by month selection and information from column E advice

    Good morning all

    I have had an idea which I would like to query with you all to see if possible.

    I have a table which has a column for the date recieved, the name of document and the type the document is split into.

    What I am looking to do is be able to click on a drop down within the pie chart, the drop down being the selection of months and this to show the results of the number of different categories the document is spit into (column E)

    Basically with the data be able to select a date which the drop down looks up from column A.

    This show a pie chart which will show me the total number count or recorded information from column E for that month.

    As an example to the theory to select January from a dropdown in the chart, this should show a pie chart with a count of:

    2 recorded for Time
    1 recorded for scope
    2 recorded for budget
    1 recorded for resource
    1 recorded for technical

    this then all rounded up in the pie chart for Jan as a percentage.

    I really hope I have described my idea well enough and have included the data and looking to get the pie chart workin gon the next tab.

    Can anyone take a look, give advice or let me know if this is even possible?

    Wow that was quick, thank you so much this is really appreciated.

    Is there a way I could do a count for the month selected that totals up the number of documents raised so not the numbers in column E but a count that stats for Jan there were x amount of documents in column c by chance as an example.

    This will mean I have a pie chart of the information being recorded which is great but then I will also get the figure of the amount of documents raised for that month

    I'm guessing the formula would start =SUMPRODUCT((TEXT(Data!$B$2:$B$60,"mmm")=$F$2) in column I row 2 in tab 2.

    Then the formula would need to be extended not to count column e but instead count the number of names in column C in the first tab.

    Is that the right idea to bring up the correct number?
