is it posible to define data range of a chart with a formula? (indirect for example)

    Hello everybody

Is it possible to automatize definition of data range for a chart with a formula and / or reference to information in a cell?

Way that it's not necessary to enter by hand each time the range for x and y values.

I tried indirect function =INDIRECT(O36&":"&O46) in the select data source --> edit series window but it says "that function isn't valid".

    Thanks for your answers

Define a name using that formula (but include the sheet name) and then use the name in the chart data dialog.

Define a name using the Name Manager called, say, Cht_Y_Values where the Refers To box contains:

    =INDIRECT("'auswertung messwerte'!"&'auswertung messwerte'!$O$36&":"&'auswertung messwerte'!$O$46)

Then in your chart data source, use ='excelforum chart auto.xlsx'!Cht_Y_Values as the Y value formula. As in the attached copy of your workbook.
