GPA exclude a marking period from this year but not previous years

    Hi all...

Long time since I've been here, but I remember where to turn for help.

I work for a school district and I'm trying to calculate GPA's for some students. My student management system spits out data for each subjects' quarter grade (Q1, Q2, Q3, etc) and school year.

I'm doing a pivot table, which is the easiest in my experience, but I've run into a problem...this year, I need averages for all 4 quarters for previous years, but exclude Q3 for THIS YEAR only. So my pivot table has school year and quarters in columns and the student ID and each marking period average in rows.

If I filter out Q3, then I loose it for all school years....that's where I'm stuck. I only want to filter out Q3 for the 2019-2020 school year.

I'm attaching a worksheeet with a sample pivot table on the worksheet.

    All help would be appreciated.

Hi, what if you make 1 column extra and place this formula in the column.
Then, after refreshing your pivot the new column is visible and you can filter one of the Q's out.
