Pivot table and chart date filter to specific date range, but still showing other dates

Hi all,

I've been trying to solve this for ages.

I have a pivot table and chart that I want to be dynamic in terms of filtering the date range via slicer. Since there are months without data, I turned on the 'Show items with no data' option in the field settings so no months will be skipped in the chart. However, when I filter the date, the prior and after months still show up in both table and chart. I just want to focus on whatever date range I only select.
