Creating a slicer for multiple tables

    Hello brains trust!

I am attempting to create ONE slicer for a Payroll Dashboard with two different tables from different sources. They are linked by the same Job (work location) and also GL (department) where the wages are allocated. One picks up Overtime per department and one is the timesheet information.

I have followed two tutorials and they both had the same steps but I find that when I attempt to create the relationship I am getting the error message

"both selected columns contain duplicate values. At least one of the columns selected must contain only unique values to create a relationship between the tables"

What would be the duplicated values? I am looking at 6 weeks worth of data? I want to essentially have a page at the front where the user can choose WEEK, DEPARTMENT OR LOCATION and it updates all the tables to create a dash for that area.

For example you can work in the Bistro but be a kitchen or server or admin staff.

In a perfect world I would just have one pivot table that works out

Employee by location for actual labour vs roster labour and the OT worked in that week.

I have attached a sample file if anyone is able to assist.

    Thanks in advance.

Explain what fields you are trying to create a relationship between?

Re: Creating a slicer for multiple tables

    Hi Glenn

I am trying to create a link between either week (so you select week once and it pulls up all the data relevant to that week), Job (department) or GL (the location they are working in)

They show different things with the same relationships. one is showing roster v actual hours, dollars and on costs by employee and the other one is showing dollars by the type of work they were doing (normal vs OT vs sick leave etc)

    Does that help?
    Thanks Chantelle

Do you mean there is like a many-to-many type of relationship? Not that I can imagine how to do that, if that is the case. Maybe someone else on here has ideas ... depending on what your reply is.
