Chart is showing Blank Cells as zero values

I have set my cell values to Blank by using "". Unfortunately, these cell values show up as zeros when charting. Is there any way to avoid this?
I realize that I can instead use #N/A for my blank cells, and then the chart works fine. However, I prefer that the cells look empty (as with "").

You can go with the #N/A and then format the cells conditionally so that these values display in the same colour as the cell background (fomat cells that contain errors as the rule)

Alternatively, set the formula to using 0 instead of "", then set the number formatting as: General;-General;"-"
