Make a graph with excel

Hi, I want to read in (or import might be a better term, but I just want to use the values from a column in the excel table) values for making a graph (plot) with the chart wizard, but I only can read in values for the y-axis (only one "data range" field.The X-axis is always 1, 2, 3, etc. How can I also read in values for this axis, too?
Moreover, what must I do, to get two curves into the same diagram?

You need a scatter graph (x-y) not a line graph

You need to include the x axis values in your selection.

If the x axis values are numeric then as Charile says you will need to use XY-scatter rather than Line, which treats the x axis as categories.

Maybe it would help if you posted an example of your data layout and a description of what ranges you are trying to plot.
