Line graph with coloured points corresponding to legend

Hello,

I'm trying to plot a line graph of a riverbed depth profile (x axis: distance along river bed, y axis: depth). This part I have managed to do with the excel 2007 line chart function, very simple.

Now what I want to do is show changing substrate along the river bed. I have been trying change the points on the graphs to different colours, with a corresponding legend (e.g. green = seagrass, blue = rock, red = leaf litter etc.), but have had no success

Anyone able to help?

What sort of example do you mean? A data set?

I hope that works... that shows the depth profile, and an alternative way to express the substrate data

What i'd really like to do is to change the points on the depth profile to different colours, so you cna see that the substrate at, for example, 25m along the transect was silt, and the depth was approx 1.9m.

Failing that, if I could overlay the depth graph onto the substrate graph, it would be sufficient.
