Calculate Table Values using a PivotTable

    Hi All,

For sometimes now, I have been working on a process that eats almost all my days. I am desperately looking out for a method which can make this process easy. Could you please help me to get it done? I would much much appreciate your help guys.

The process is: I have this columns and details in the 1st tab - 'Particulars' 'Day 1' 'Day 2' Day 3'. In the 2nd tab, I have the particulars for the Day 1 and in the 3rd Tab I have the particulars for the Day 2 and so on. Now, each other tabs has 2 columns 'Particulars' and 'Numbers'. I need this data to be pulled on to the 1st tab by using any formula, pivot. I have no idea how do I do that. I would have used 'vlookup' if the data unders particulars is a single entry, but the same data has multiple entries.

I know, I wasn't descriptive above, could you pls look into the attachment and help me?

    Thanks a TON guys!

    Hi, theshaun,

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

Re: Calculate Table Values using a PivotTable

    @VISHA
    Thank you so much!

It looks like you made my day. But what if the data is not exactly same? I mean in my previous I example I mentioned 'cylinder', what if it's 'cylinder' in some cells and 'cylindersomething' in other cells and that I want to count them all as same? I mean under 'cylinder' category? Could you please go through the attachment and help me solve this? Please let me know if it's not descriptive.

    Thanks :-)

Re: Calculate Table Values using a PivotTable

Thanks! Visha has helped me in that. Btw, the thing is that I want to sum the numbers/quantity available against each particulars in other tabs. And, in my last post I have exactly described my problem. Could you help me if you know the answer?

    Thanks

Re: Calculate Table Values using a PivotTable

i've uploaded 2 versions for you to see. the first one are the non-pink tabs. you can see that the formula in "Category Index Report" sheet changes from column to column. that's because column B looks at sheet2, column C at sheet3, column D at sheet4.

but if you name your sheets in mmddyy like the pink tabs, then the formula can be standard throughout using INDIRECT.
