Graphing Well count by Year.. Help!

So i have a huge database.

Each row is a well.

The column I am working with currently is completion date. I have sorted the wells by completion dates. Dates are listed in format 5/20/2012.

I need to make a graph showing the number of wells by year.

Basically, x axis is the year and y axis is the number of wells completed that year.

Can someone walk me through this?
