Date Format not Working in Excel 2010 in Pivot Table

I have a database of about 500 rows. On the database the date format is OK and I have checked for blanks, incorrect dates etc, but when I create a pivot table it will not allow me to filter on date. I have tried all the usual tricks and am baffled. I have attached a sample.

    Thanks

How are you adding the fields to the pivot table?

Where did the text of my post go?

Anyway, how are you adding the fields? As Row fields, Column Fields, in the data section?

Sorry, I am adding it as row fields, but ideally want it as the report filter.

Operation Date appears to be being treated as a date field.

What would be an example of the filter you are trying to use?
    Cheers

Re: Date Format not Working in Excel 2010 in Pivot Table

When I add the date field as a row field or report filter I have no problem filtering the data.

How are you adding the other 2 fields?

Re: Date Format not Working in Excel 2010 in Pivot Table

Sorry, probably not exlaining myself very well.

When I use operation date as the report filter in the pivot table, it only shows each date individually and not grouped by year, month etc. However the main data does show this type of filter. It is almost as it the date column is reverting to a text string when added to the report filter.

    Thanks

@Norie, without tacking the thread too off topic, any reason why your status appears to be Offline? It's the reason I jumped in as I thought you have gone offline.

It will group if you apply grouping.

    Lazor

    That's how Report Filter works.

    Andy

    Not sure what you mean.

@Noire, you have no green dot next to your name to indicate you are online. and the tooltip when cursor over your name is 'Noire is offline'.
Maybe you login with Invisible mode enabled?
