Automatic updating of a time x-axis.

I use lots of charts which have a time x-axis showing, for example the last 6 months data and a projection of the next 6 months. Every day I manually change where the vertical axis crosses the x-axis to today's date. Is there a way I can make this automatic? I.e., can I put a range or cell address into the box where I manually type the date?

I've just started looking at VBA so could maybe eventually come up with a Macro to do this but I was wondering if there was an easy way around it. (I use Excel2010.)

    Thanks.

All the best for Christmas and the New Year!

Not sure what you are looking for (much easier if you post an example sheet...). Maybe a dummy dataset will do what you want.

Re: Automatic updating of a time x-axis.

Glen: Thanks for the quick response. I've attached an example file. (I think I managed to work out how to do it...) As I mentioned, the vertical axis crosses the x-axis on today's date - which I have to input manually for each chart. What I want to do is automate this so that the chart updates itself every day.

What might be better is to be able to input any date into a cell somewhere and have the chart plot the vertical axis crossing the date in that cell.

    Thanks:

Glen: I see what you did there though. I'd actually used something similar to draw a horizontal marker line for any value. I hadn't tried using it for plotting a vertical "Dateline" though and this is certainly one way around it.

    Thanks again.
