Point displayed at origin (0,0) that isn't there!

I have a really strange issue with Excel. I have a scatter chart which plots a number of different series. All of the cells plotted in the series contain calculations with rather complex formulas. For some strange reason, there is always a point plotted on the chart at 0,0, even though this point doesn't appear in the data series. All of the cells that the formula depends on can be blank, and every cell will display #DIV/0, but the chart will display one point at 0,0. It is always drawn (visible) with the last series that is displayed (or maybe all of them)? When I remove the last series, the point appears in the series before that.

Has anyone seen anything like this, or have an idea what causes it or how to fix it?

Any non numeric value will be treated as zero. This includes text, errors, formula that return "".

Try altering your formula to output #N/A via the NA() formula.
