I am trying to figure out how to add vertical lines to represent the dates associated with the investments in the Gannt chart in the attached Excel. I tried to create a new series using XY Scatter straight line, as a previous thread suggested, but it doesn't seem to work. I would very much appreciate if anyone could take a look at the attachment and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks very much.

If anyone is having problems understanding what I'm asking, let me know and I can try and explain further.
Basically, all I want to do is add a vertical line down the entirety of the chart to represent certain dates that investments were made during these projects. The line would intersect all of the bars. Also, if I could somehow add a blurb at the top or bottom of the vertical line saying "Investment #1, Investment # 2...etc.", that would be the best case scenario. Thanks again everyone.
You have a choice. If you use xy-scatter with a single data point then you need to add error bar to draw the line.
I have added eror bar to Investment #1.
Alternatively you use xy-scatter with 2 data points (start/finish) this I have done for Investment #2

There may not be a way to do this, but is there anyway to add a blurb directly below or above these lines that say "Investment #1, Investment #2, etc."?
If not, no biggie. I appreciate the help.
Use data labels on those series. If you have more that one data point then select the series and then the data point before applying data labels.

One more thing on this, if you don't mind.
Is there any way I can make the vertical lines extend all the way to the top, while also leaving room for the Data Labels? I have 10 investment dates and I'm trying to show how many projects were going on at the time of each investment, so I'd like the lines to extent throughout the whole chart. As far as leaving room for the data labels, I could always place them at the bottom.

Change the secondary vertical scale max to 1.
You can Center the data labels rather than position right
