i am looking sum formula to display my data with 3 criteria (display by this month, until this month & until last month) based on header column/correspondents, then in cell L3 as selected month display..

You can use "dsum" formula to achieve the desired results. Refer to the database functions in excel help
For an example how it would work, see the attached sheet. Further you can use it as you wish

In looking at the attached file in the response, I see a named range that is a formula instead of referencing to a particular range of data. Can someone explain how you enter this in the first place? I think I could use this if I knew how. Thanks.

using name manager on the formulas tab. you can enter formulas as well as ranges in the 'refers to' field :-)
