Look up based on specific text criteria.

I have a spreadsheet with 120 names and one of the 4 department that they work for in the same cell (Column D, Row 13), what I would like in Column J, Row 13 to row 133, is to return either Un, RR, HM, FC, I know this is possible with Vlookup & wildcards, but not sure how to put all that together.

    John Smith (Un)
    Paul Jones (RR)
    Darryl Petrerson (HM)
    Harold Cole (FC)

Apologies I cant upload a sample file it has sensitive data in it.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

It would be a lot easier if you were to anonymise a small subset of your data and post it. Nobody expects you to post anything that contains sensitive data!!

Yea. It's easy - being silly. However, this longer variant allows you to have a 3+ letter departmental designation.

That formula works great, I was just about to upload a small sample file.
