COUNTIFS issue - Returns zero matches (possibly wrong formula???)

    Hello,

I am in the middle of designing (what will eventually be a in depth) spreadsheet showing a complete sales summary within a date range. The contents of all of the sales is on the first tab from Cognos. Basically I will then have the 2nd tab giving an indepth summary of the complete data from the first tab. One formula is not working as I expected it to.

Basically I need to give me a nice basic count total of all multiple criteria. I have used the COUNTIFS formula assuming this is correct (feel free to tell me otherwise) and the formula works but just returns a 0 result rather than the correct number.

    Help....

I need column 'I' to be checked and total the count for all cells that show either 'PC' 'GV' and 'MC'.

I have attached the early stages of the spreadsheet and the current COUNTIFS formula that has no errors, just the wrong outcome.

    You can use:
    =SUM(COUNTIF(List_Frame_1!I:I,{"PC","MC","GV"}))

Your formula is looking for cells where column I is "PC" and is "MC" and is "GV", hence the 0.

You could count all codes in one go using a Pivot Table.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Perfect - Added the SUM. Works fine. Makes sense.
