    Conditional formatting issue

    Hello!

    I'm stumped on a conditional formatting problem. It needs to be based on the contents of 2 other cells and it partially works, but also highlights cells that shouldn't be.

    M is "Customs Release Date"
    R is "OGA Hold Release Date"
    S is "Trucker Notified Date"

    Here's what I NEED it to do:
    If S is more than 2 days after M, highlight S orange, no matter what's in R or if R is blank
    If S is more than 2 days after R, highlight S orange, no matter what's in M or if M is blank
    If both R and M are blank and there's a date in S, then S does NOT need to be highlighted
    If S is less than 2 days after both R and M, then S does NOT need to be highlighted

    Every time I change something in the Conditional Formatting, something happens on the sheet, but I can't seem to get it to do everything correctly at the same time.

    Here is my latest set of rules:
    "=$M1<($S1-2)" (should highlight S orange)
    "=$R1<($S1-2)" (should highlight S orange)
    "=AND(ISBLANK($M1),ISBLANK($R1),NOT(ISBLANK($S1)))" (should not highlight S at all)

    Attached is a sample of the file. The second line of data should NOT have S highlighted and the sixth line of data (with "09/16 HB:PREKEYED" in P) shoud NOT have S highlighted.

    I would sure appreciate if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks!

    Jenny

    You have to remember that a blank cell is always less than a filled cell.

    Awesome! That seems to work perfectly! I had to study on your rules before I got it, but I understand now. I did not realize that a blank cell is less than a filled cell, although it makes complete sense, now that you mentioned it.
    Perfect, you made my day!
