A different kind of lookup table

    Hello folks!

First time poster, big time stuck!

My problem is making a functional table where I cant enter a name and then get results for all insances when that name appears and on what kind of activity.

    The format is really easy:

    A1: Date
    A2: Activity
    A3-A20: All participants

The same general design goes from A-AAA.

Now what I would like to do is enter a name and lookup that name in A3:A20 and if found i want to know the date and activity, but here is the kicker, i also want the searc to go from A3:A20 to AAA3:AAA20.

I can do kinda the same thing, but opposite, namely choose a date and then see all participants and activity for that particular date, but that is really cumbersome when the need to parse the data comes upp (as it's a linked document, the people inputting data are not the ones who are depended of it).

So if anyone could shed some light, any light on the subject it would really make my day!

I've done something similar but with the data other way round, i.e. your A1-A20 transposed to A1-T1 etc.

This way it's easy as you can set a filter at the top.

Thank you for your reply AlanY!

My problem is that names occuring on one list (tab/sheet) can also appear on Another tab/sheet as they can be "moved" from one group to another.

So participants per day can change but also any participant in one group can be moved to another group.

It all works independed of what group the participants belong to, as there is a central counter concerning participation, but the problem is when wanting to view all activitys, sorted by date, by a specific participant.

I just can't make it work.

As I said, I can make it work sofar as in choosing dates added and then reviewing who participated and what they did, but u would like it the other way around, if possible, to select a participant and se all activitys and dates sorted.
