I guess I should start by saying I'm not entirely sure how to ask this question succinctly, but I will try.
This involves two columns in one tab and then a list on a second tab.
On the first tab in column A I have $ amounts. In column B I would like to put one of several names (IE. Who that $ amount should be Assigned to)
On the second tab I have in column A a list of names and I would like column B to show all the dollar amounts added up that correlate from tab 1 column A to each of the correct names in tab 2.
Tab 1:
A B
$100 Smith
$500 Anderson
$250 James
$150 Smith
$300 Smith
$275 James
$300 Anderson
Tab 2:
A B
Name Total
Anderson $800
James $525
Smith $550
And once this is set up (aside from adding more names) I am hoping that nothing ever needs to be done in tab 2. It would only be viewed and all calculations would be automatically done.
Does that make sense??
I hope it does and I'm sure someone out there has a very clever way of accomplishing it.
