    Help require to change a year format to custom yyyy-yyyy format

    Hi friends,
    I changed a number format to custom to change the year into devanagari font but it’s not changing to devanagari font. I don’t understand what a problem is. So I request you to suggest me a correction in number format.

    I want the year in ‘yyyy-yyyy’ devanagari font.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanking you,

    Sincerely,

    Re: Help require to change a year format to custom yyyy-yyyy format

    Your formula is returning a text value, and custom formatting has no effect on strings.

    The formula already returns the value in the format yyyy-yyyy.

    I don't know what the devanagari font is - is this a different way of representing years in India?

    Hope this helps.

    Looks like your downloaded font doesn't support numbers so download another font...before downloading just see the character map of the font to see if there are numbers written in Hindi...I tried it is working for my font..

    Re: Help require to change a year format to custom yyyy-yyyy format

    Hi,
    The format is in 'yyyy-yyyy' format but it's in English. I want to convert it in devanagari font. Now I have inserted a text function to achieve the target but in vain.

    Please see the following modified formula and suggest me a solution.

    I didnt read all your posts here (yet), but this seems redundant?
    IF(MONTH(TODAY())<12
    MONTH(TODAY()) will never return anything > 12?

    Hi Ford,
    Ok, I agree with you that month is never >12.

    Will you please do the amendment in the formula to make it more perfect?

    I want output as:

    2014-2015, 2015-2016 and so on for a academic year.

    Thank you for guidance to make the formula perfect.

    Would this work for you?...
    =YEAR(TODAY())-1&"-"&YEAR(TODAY())

    Re: Help require to change a year format to custom yyyy-yyyy format

    Hello Ford,
    Thank you for the formula amendment. However it will not change the academic year as per the requirement of user.

    The financial year is April to March
    The academic year is June to May

    IN this case the year will change from April and June respectively.

    In your formula it changes from January.

    So to overcome this problem the month formula is inserted in the formula. The user has simply to change the number of month as per his requirement 4 or 6.

    MONTH(TODAY())<12, January-December
    MONTH(TODAY())<4, April-March
    MONTH(TODAY())<6, June-May

    Thank you,
