Hi balexander and welcome to the forum,

Excel makes this so easy you will be amazed. No formulas needed. You simply need to make your data a table and then sort or filter it. Watch

    Marvin,

Thank you for the link. I am still a bit confused. I see the filter options. I could not tell from the video how it takes data from 2 different columns (really two pairs of columns) combines them, adds them and then sorts them by total in a third (pair of columns). It appears that when I add the filters the third column doesn't really have any information to filter. I tried naming the matching columns the same, but that didn't seem to help either. Sorry, ifs a dumb question. Cleary I'm not very strong with excel.

    Hi balexander,

Now I see what you are after. You want to add two sets of data based on column A and sum the numbers in the column next to them. I really didn't see that from the picture you supplied or from your first post.

Can you put the second table of numbers below the first? If you could drag it down below the first a Pivot Table would do exactly what you ask for. If you can attach a sample workbook showing what you have and then what you want, it is a lot easier for us to understand. To attach a file, click on "Go Advanced" and then the Paper Clip Icon above the message area.
