Does anyone know how I would highlight a cell in conditional formatting if for instance the 6th character in a cell is a number five or if the first five characters in the cell start "ABCDE"?
Many thanks guys

i think you would need to do two CF's
Formula =LEFT(A1,5)="ABCDE"
formula =MID(A1,6,1)="5"

If you are satisfied with the solution(s) provided, please mark your thread as Solved.
Select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Solved. To undo, select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Unsolved.
=MID(K1,6,1)="5"
=MID(K2,1,5)="abcde"
or in one CF rule...
=OR(MID(A1,6,1)="5",LEFT(A1,5)="ABCDE")
