Create a pop up message if specific text found in a cell

    Hi,

    I am using 2013 -

Here is what I want to do:

If a user types specific data into a cell I want a pop-up message to appear with a reminder.

    That's it.

    Specifically:

If 136M36 is entered in a specific cell or
If 74M43 is entered in a specific cell or
If D6M16 is entered in a specific cell or
If 42M22 is entered in a specific cell
Then I want a message to say "contact xxx"

And if 74M26 is entered in a specific cell
Then I want a different message to say "contact yyy".

I am not having much luck finding out how to do this seemingly simple task....

    ----
Am I correct in assuming that I will need a separate sheet with these specific items in it to perform a "if = Sheet3, A1 then..." or something like that?

As you can probably tell, I am very rusty. Please talk to me like I'm a noob, would appreciate it very much.

No it is a lot simpler than that.

quite a simple sheet specific macro

Right Click on the sheet name at the bottom of excel and select view code.

    A window will open

Paste this there and then close the window

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply. I clicked on the sheet, and pasted exactly your code, and closed. When I entered 136m36 (I even tried 136M36) in a cell nothing happened...

I am sorry.. but I am very appreciative of your help.

I just tried it and it works perfectly.

136M36 needs to be typed or pasted into A2

Which cell did you type it into?

You said Specific cells without specifying so I picked:-
