    ''Average'' formula help

    Hi,

I wonder if you will be able to help me with the following issue. I am working in the laboratory and every week I take a certain readings (from the following week). I always have a day and night results. I would like to calculate the average of those two readings like AVERAGE of A1 and A2 then A3 and A4 ... so then I can just drag it down. The simple =AVERAGE formula doesn't work for me because the computer will take and average of A1 and A2 then A2 and A3 ....

I hope you guys understand what I ment. Sorry english is not my first language.

    Thank you

    Hi,
There is no formula for that because eventually, you have to plus 2 (A1 and A2) and divide it by / 2.
If you upload the worksheet then I can suggest you the needful....

If you set up your spreadsheet as Date in Column A, Day reading in Column B Night Reading in Column C, then average formula in Column D =AVERAGE(B2:C2) you will only be averaging the day in question and this should then drag DOWN

Please find attached worksheet that I use at the moment.excel.jpg

nutty1975 great idea but unfortunatelly I can not create the new worksheet because it will affect to many things like our database.
This OIW readings are only a small part of that worksheet.

    Thank you

    popipipo

Sorry I just made it very confusing. Plese ignore the %removal. On the first worksheet ''oil in water filt+feed'' u have morning and night readings of water going in(feed) and out(filtrate). On the second workshee ''OIW day average'' you got filtrate average of morning and night same for feed.

    thanks
