How I stop Conditional formatting referring to same cell every time?

Im comparing some sports stats (quarter by quarter scores) - I have conditional formatting to show green or red if we won or lost the quarter, team a in row 1, team B in row 2

When I move down to the next row and insert the numbers for game 2, in rows 3 & 4, the conditional formatting colour keeps referring to greater / less than the data in row 1

How do I copy & paste the formatting so it continually to the data in the round i.e. - next one would be row 3 compared to 4, next one row 5 to 6? Right now it compare 3 to row 1, then 5 to row 1 etc

if the conditional format formula has =$A$1 for example, open it and change it to =A1 and hit apply.

It Worked... kind of! I was hoping to save time and paste the whole season in 1 go but It seems I still have manually tell it where to compare data

Not sure i'm following you but if you have made that change, and you drag down any formulas in that referenced cell the formatting will adjust downward or to the right or left. If you use the format painter and go down or to the right the referenced cell in the conditional formatting will adjust too. So going down it should move to A2, going right adjust to B1, if that is of any help.
