Summing two columns to be used in a sumproduct

    Hey guys,

I am not sure if this is possible, but you guys are the ones to ask.

I have 4 columns, "type", "regular hours", "other hours", and "wage". I am looking to calculated a weighted average of wage based on regular hours + other hours, but i do not have a column actually summing up regular hours and other hours. Can i get around this somehow?

What i would like to do is sumproduct(wages, sum(regular hours, other hours),--(type="a")) but this doesn't work. Does anyone have a workaround besides creating a dummy column?

I attached a small sample workbook. The answer should be 24.77 (after dividing it by the number of total hours of type a).

    Thanks!

    David

    Replace the SUM(C5:D9) to (C5:C9)+(D5:D9)

    That should do the trick.
