I have a simple table where I need the first item of the filtered column (G5:G1000) to show in cell G4. If the column is not filtered, I need G4 to remain blank. I need a formula if possible and not VBA or UDF.
Thanks!

I'm fairly certain that there aren't any formulas that take into account whether or not a cell is in a filtered column.
Ok, thank you. Do you know the formula to return the 1st filtered item then? Maybe I can work around it.
I'd suggest trying to determine a workaround. I don't think there are any formulas that will take filtering into account. I tried =OFFSET based off of a column header, but it didn't work. If you upload a sample file showing what you're trying to accomplish, perhaps someone can help you figure out a workaround.
Are the items text or numeric? Is a dummy column okay?

I actually need it to work for both text and numeric (two separate columns). Yes, a dummy column is okay.
