Hi I have a number in A1 that changes based on data on another sheet, now and again I need to temporarily override it and input another number.
Would it be possible to input temp number which is always a lower number in to B1 and and have excel choose B1 if the cell is populated?
Help as always is much appreciated.

Your post implies that A1 is a formula. In which case you could build in an IF test . i.e.

It would be helpful to see a sample workbook of what you have and want, but I'm going to give it a go anyway.
I assume there's a formula in A1 already which is probably something like =Sheet2!B2 or something similar? you could add to that formula to and IF formula, like this...
