How to SUMIF using a wildcard?

Cell B20 reads "01711 Carton". Cell A20 has the quantity.

Some cells in Column B will include the words Carton, Bucket, or just the item number.

For example: 01711 Carton or 01711 Bucket or 01711.

I've created a column to add up only the cartons with this formula =SUMIF(B20,"*Carton",A20) but it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
